What A Love For Worship
When a church puts out a worship album, it’s usually hit or miss and in the case of Calvary Worship Live’s What a Love, it is a power packed EP. This EP is an example of excellence in performance, songwriting, and arrangement. Mixing contemporary worship elements with some gospel and a touch of the centuries old hymns, the sound is easily accessible for anyone with a preference for both the gospel crowd and the contemporary worship fans.This is a beautiful marriage between two cultural backgrounds.
Led by the charismatic and incredibly talented John Wilds, this church worship team delivers a live recording of seven songs that are exhilarating worship songs. What a Love begins with the tune “Free” with lead sung by Bailey Redmond and “I Found a Love” sung by John Wilds. These upbeat songs jump in with songs that praise and exclamation of what God has done. “See the Nations” moves the rest of the album into some deep worship. There’s an extended session with “What a Love” and the reprise, but the star of this EP is “I Live to Glorify.” The vocal by Elizabeth Caffman, the arrangement, and the overall message just ushers in someone to participate in the worship floating out of the album.
There’s not a detracting note, not a moment where I feel that the album is more about the singers in the forefront than glorifying God. This is a testament to the mission of John Wilds at CalvaryFL. His worship leading, and mentoring of people to walk in true freedom of worship and release their musical giftings is evident. And it evidently speaks of the glory of God.
