Is there a difference between what we want and what God wants for us?

If you knew that what God has planned for you will infinitely make you happier than what you want for the future, would you follow it? What if it meant giving up something you desperately wanted? Would you be eager to give the Lord something you felt was precious? Would you be like Hannah giving up Samuel?
