While the melodies and lyrics lilt above slightly gritty urban beats, like the artist Lorde or Christian artist Brooke Fraser&#8217;s more recent album, Charis&#8217; voice has excellent tone and emotional character that reaches out, grabs your heart and pulls you into each song.<\/p>\n<p><em>Shadow<\/em> begins with it&#8217;s title track, &#8220;Shadow.&#8221; This track ebbs and flows with an expanse of sound, at times small and then swelling to billows of clouds filling dark caverns with their soft light. &#8220;Until You Move&#8221; has more of a contemporary waltz feel. Distant synths drone under a layer of gauze, while piano and vocals stay centered in the foreground, hanging like a still set of chimes. The EP ends with &#8220;Gardens.&#8221; Gently layered harmonies, and thematically speaking of relationship that has seasons with God, this is an excellent allegory, beautifully sung, written and produced.<\/p>\n<p>The short, but gorgeous <em>Shadow<\/em> is worth not only one listen, but several spins in your playlist.
